Management review is the process where top management evaluates the management system's suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
Management review (Annex SL clause 9.3) is a mandatory requirement of all ISO management system standards. Top management must review the system at planned intervals, considering specific inputs and generating outputs with documented decisions and actions.
Standards say 'at planned intervals'. At least annually is common. Organizations in initial implementation may do it semi-annually.
It is a major nonconformity in any certification audit. It can result in certificate suspension.
